Several years ago, CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund runner up and J Crew designer, Ryan Roche, closed her children’s wear business to develop a line of luxury clothing for women back in 2011. Today in 2015, her company has encountered significant growth. The Ryan Roche Collection is currently being sold internationally in 55 stores, including Barney’s New York, Bird, and popular online site, Net-a Porter.
Her signature pink, which she once created with avocado skins under the guidance of natural dyer, Edie Ure for a CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund design challenge, is probably the sweetest “peach” of the collection. She tends to revel in soft-petal tones that seem to resemble the earth, air and water of color, creating an impression with one fluid motion. She works a great deal with cashmere, and her sculptured, knitted, and handmade creations deliver a sense of sophistication, while utilizing fabrics that caress its wearers and provide a sense of relaxation, along with the element of touch.
